On October 13, 2026 Google pushed Chrome 155.0.8059.79/.80 for Windows and Mac and 155.0.8059.79 for Linux to the Stable channel. The update fixes 37 security bugs, seven of them rated Critical, and will reach users gradually over the coming days and weeks.
What was fixed
- The seven Critical bugs are in ANGLE, Browser, the PDF viewer, Network, Core, SVG and Media. Most are use-after-free bugs, plus one buffer overflow.
- Many High-severity bugs involve the password manager (including an information leak), the V8 engine, extensions, the installer and the updater.
- Google is keeping bug details restricted until most users have updated.
What to do
This affects Chrome users on Windows, Mac and Linux. Check for the update now rather than waiting for it to install on its own:
- Open Chrome and go to the three-dot menu > Help > About Google Chrome.
- Let Chrome download the update, then click Relaunch.
- Make sure the version reads 155.0.8059.79 or .80.
In businesses, admins should make sure every company device is on the new version.
