GTA 6 scams: fake leaks and early-access schemes to watch for

Kaspersky warned on October 6, 2026 about fake websites exploiting anticipation for Grand Theft Auto VI, due November 19, 2026, offering fake leaked builds, paid early access, or crypto-only "donation" schemes.

According to a post on Kaspersky's official blog dated October 6, 2026, scammers are exploiting fan anticipation ahead of Grand Theft Auto VI's expected release on November 19, 2026, by building a wave of bait websites.

The schemes Kaspersky found

Kaspersky highlights one site, CyberLeek, which claims to offer an early build of GTA 6 through three paid options: a "full game" for $1000 including exclusive content and a direct download link (limited to one copy per buyer); 24-hour demo access for $100; and a crowdfunding pitch promising a free public release once $50,000 is raised, with $100+ donors getting priority access — though the fine print actually lists the real funding goal as $500,000. The same site also offers paid in-game brand advertising placements.

Payment and warning signs

According to Kaspersky, these sites only accept cryptocurrency (Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT, Litecoin) and explicitly state that all payments are final with no refunds. Kaspersky notes the CyberLeek name originated from the hacker behind an actual Rockstar Games breach and GTA VI leak, but other scammers have since copied the name across many fake sites with different designs.

What Kaspersky advises

Kaspersky explicitly advises against using your own computer to open or inspect archives and installers downloaded from these so-called leak sites, since there is no way to verify what is actually inside them.
