GPT-6 on ChatGPT: who gets it and when?
OpenAI is rolling GPT-6 and its new Intelligent UI into ChatGPT for all tiers, starting Oct 7, 2026 for Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Oct 8 for Free and Go.
OpenAI has begun rolling GPT-6 with a new Intelligent UI into ChatGPT for everyone, after limiting the model to paid tiers last month. Instead of plain text replies, ChatGPT can now show visuals, charts, buttons and interactive tools directly inside the conversation.
What Intelligent UI changes
Per OpenAI's announcement, GPT-6 decides on its own how to format an answer based on the question: a side-by-side comparison, an interactive diagram to explain a concept, or even a small tool built on the spot, such as a bill-splitting calculator or a savings calculator. When plain text is the clearest option, ChatGPT still answers with text only, as before.
Rollout schedule by plan
- From October 7, 2026: available to Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise tiers in the Chat tab.
- From October 8, 2026: expanding to Free and Go tiers.
- For Enterprise accounts, availability depends on workplace admin settings.
- This update only applies to the Chat experience; Work and Codex in ChatGPT are not changing models as part of this release.
OpenAI states that GPT-6 in ChatGPT runs on GPT-6 Sol for Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise, while Free and Go tiers use GPT-6 Luna.
What users need to do
No setup is required; the feature appears automatically once an account is updated per the schedule above. OpenAI also says that for questions requiring web search, GPT-6 Instant starts answering 44% sooner on average than the previous GPT-5.6 Instant, according to the company's internal evaluation.
