FPT hosting: what it offers, who it suits and how it compares with other hosting/VPS providers

This guide explains what FPT hosting really is and compares it with iNET, AZDIGI, Vietnix and Hostinger so you can pick the right type of service.

When people search for "fpt hosting", what they usually find on FPT's side is virtual servers (cloud servers) and cloud infrastructure for businesses, not a cheap WordPress-style shared hosting line. If you only need a brochure site or a blog, dedicated hosting providers are usually an easier starting point; FPT is worth considering when you need flexible virtual servers.

What is FPT hosting, really?

The name "FPT hosting" is confusing because the FPT group has several units that sell infrastructure. According to the FPT Cloud introduction page, it is a cloud platform with dozens of service groups: virtual servers (including GPU), backup and disaster recovery, storage, networking and load balancing, security (firewall, WAF), containers/Kubernetes, databases, monitoring and AI. The page also lists certifications such as ISO/IEC 27001, PCI DSS and SOC 2 Type 2.

The part closest to "renting a place to run a website" is FPT Cloud Server, a virtual server (VPS/cloud server). According to the vendor's product page, it offers:

  • Auto scaling based on load.
  • A stated availability (uptime) commitment of up to 99.99%.
  • A standard L4 firewall and built-in load balancing.
  • Quick creation of servers preinstalled with common stacks such as LAMP, relational databases and WordPress ("Preconfig").
  • A high-performance (Premium) tier on Intel Xeon Gold 5218R CPUs, aimed at databases, CRM and ERP.
  • Management through web, CLI and API.

Note that all of the above is the vendor's own description, not independent measurement. The pages I could read do not list the supported operating systems or data center locations, so ask FPT Cloud directly or check its technical documentation.

Why not compare FPT directly with budget hosting

Shared hosting gives you a slice of a server, usually with a ready-made control panel (cPanel, hPanel, OnePanel and so on); you simply upload your site. A VPS/cloud server gives you a private virtual machine with deeper control, but you install, update and secure it yourself. They are used differently, so comparing "FPT" with "hosting" without separating the types leads to bad conclusions.

A simpler way is to use three groups:

  1. Ready-to-use hosting: for brochure sites, blogs and small shops, for people who do not want to touch the command line.
  2. VPS: when you need your own software, several applications or control over the configuration.
  3. Business cloud/infrastructure: when you have IT staff or a technical partner and need backup/recovery, layered security and scalability.

FPT Cloud sits mainly in groups 2 and 3. The domestic hosting brands on this site sit mostly in group 1, and some also offer VPS.

Quick comparison by brand

The table uses facts already on the Dùng Gì product pages plus FPT Cloud's own description. Plans and prices change over time, so check the price table on each product page or the vendor's pricing page.

Names you may see next to "az host" and "eurohosting"

In the same keyword group people also search "az host" and "eurohosting". "az host" is usually understood as AZDIGI (see the table). For "eurohosting", this guide has no verified source to assess it, so read that provider's official pages before comparing.

Some Vietnamese roundup articles describe FPT as a premium-segment option whose management interface can be somewhat complex for beginners; that is the opinion of those authors, not an independent measurement, and it was not re-verified here. For the smaller hosting brands, most comparison articles found are blogs written by the providers themselves, so cross-check with user opinions on technology forums before deciding.

How to choose: when to consider FPT and when another provider

  1. Decide whether you need hosting or a VPS. WordPress or a brochure site is fine on hosting; custom software calls for a VPS.
  2. Decide who will administer it. If the owner does it personally, favour a Vietnamese-language control panel and easy-to-reach support. If you have an IT team, a cloud server gives more control.
  3. Ask about server location and backups. Where is the data center, how often are backups taken, how is restore done and is it charged?
  4. Ask about payment terms. Some cheap plans apply only when prepaid for several years, and renewal pricing can differ from the first term.
  5. Start small. Pick a low plan, test speed with your real website, then upgrade when needed.

In short, FPT fits when you need cloud infrastructure with availability, security and scalability at business scale and accept going through sales for a quote. For small sites on a limited budget, the specialist hosting providers in the table are usually easier to start with.

Frequently asked questions

What is FPT hosting?

On the FPT Cloud site, the service closest to hosting is FPT Cloud Server, a customisable virtual server inside a wider cloud platform. Whether a ready-to-use shared hosting plan exists is something to ask FPT directly.

Is FPT web hosting cheap?

This guide gives no prices. The FPT Cloud pages I read do not publish a specific price list, so contact the vendor for a quote and compare it with the price tables on other providers' product pages.

How does AZDIGI differ from FPT?

AZDIGI sells packaged hosting and VPS, with Pro Hosting and Pro Platinum lines and servers in Vietnam. FPT Cloud is a business-oriented cloud platform with many add-on services. Choose by the workload you need to run, not by the name.

Should I choose hosting or a VPS?

Choose hosting if you just want a site online without administering a server. Choose a VPS when you need your own applications or configuration control, and you or your IT staff can run it.

What should I ask a provider before buying?

Ask about server location, backup frequency and restore process, renewal terms, contract length and support channels. These differ a lot between providers.
