OneDrive for Web moves Create/Upload button to the right side
Microsoft's 365 Roadmap entry says the Create or upload button in OneDrive for the web is moving from the left navigation pane to the right side of the page, aligning the file experience with SharePoint.
Microsoft posted an update on the Microsoft 365 Roadmap (item ID 572683, dated September 30, 2026) announcing that OneDrive for the web is changing the placement of its "Create or upload" button. The button, currently located in the left navigation pane, will move to the right side of the page.
Who is affected
The change applies to people using OneDrive for the web in a browser, covering both personal Microsoft 365 accounts and business/organizational accounts that use OneDrive for Web.
Why Microsoft is making the change
According to the roadmap entry, the goal is to bring "a more consistent file experience" across OneDrive and SharePoint, since the two services already share much of their interface.
What users need to do
This is purely an interface change and does not require any action to adopt. Once the update reaches an account, users should simply note the new location of the create-folder/upload button so their workflow isn't interrupted.
