Copilot in PowerPoint to notify you even after you log off
Microsoft plans general availability in October 2026 for async notifications in Copilot for PowerPoint, letting users know when AI tasks finish even after leaving the app.
According to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap, Microsoft is preparing general availability (GA) in October 2026 for "Async Notifications for Copilot in PowerPoint" (roadmap ID 570436), a feature that lets Copilot alert users once a task is done or needs attention, even after they leave PowerPoint, switch devices, or end their workday.
According to the roadmap page (checked 28 September 2026), the feature is still in development and lists only the Mac platform — PowerPoint users on Windows or the web are not part of this rollout yet.
Who is affected
- Microsoft 365 Copilot users who use Copilot in PowerPoint to build or edit presentations.
- Businesses that have assigned Copilot licenses to office staff.
What's changing
Per the Microsoft 365 Roadmap listing, the feature allows users to step away from PowerPoint, switch devices, go offline, or finish their day while trusting that Copilot will notify them as soon as a requested task is complete or requires their input.
What users need to do
Microsoft's roadmap entry doesn't list any required action; the feature is expected to roll out automatically to eligible subscriptions when it reaches GA in October 2026, per the official roadmap.
